Epassi, one of Europe’s leading providers of employee benefit payment services, has joined forces with the Finnish company Smartum. This acquisition supports Epassi’s growth ambitions and enhances the company’s expertise in the employee benefit market.
“Smartum is a pioneer in promoting employee well-being in Finland. We are excited that now two innovative Finnish companies and their founders are combining their expertise and bringing it to the world, for the benefit of all our customers and partners,” says Pekka Rantala, CEO of Epassi Group.
The details of the transaction have not been disclosed, and the companies will not comment on them. Smartum will become part of Epassi Group, which already operates in Sweden, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands, in addition to Finland. As part of the deal, The Orange Company, the seller, has become one of Epassi’s shareholders.
“Smartum is the foundation of our family company, and joining forces with Epassi, which has expanded from Finland to Europe-wide markets, is a tremendous opportunity and a carefully considered decision. We proudly embark on taking Finnish expertise and products to the world together. Developing the Finnish working life and the employee benefits sector is a matter close to our hearts, which is why we are delighted that the story continues as one of Epassi’s owners,” says Anni Hyökyvaara, CEO of Smartum.
Through this partnership, the company will be able to invest even more in product development, thus better serving its customers, partners, and users in a more diverse way in the future. This will be reflected in an even broader range of services and more comprehensive and flexible product solutions.
“We are all very excited about the possibilities this collaboration brings. However, we remain focused on continuing our business in both companies as before. We want to provide the best possible product and service to Epassi’s and Smartum’s customers, users, and partners. We are committed to our work in improving the employee wellbeing in Finland, and we will continue to do so,” summarizes Niklas Löfgren, CEO of Epassi Finland.
